Step
1.
To install Traffic
Hurricane PRO the first step you'll need to take is to unzip the folder you downloaded
which contains the Traffic Hurricane PRO files.
To unzip this folder you'll
need a copy of WinZip. You can download a free trial version copy of
WinZip at
http://WinZip.com
Once the
Traffic Hurricane PRO folder has been unzipped click on the "TrafficHurricanePro"
folder and then click on the second "TrafficHurricanePro" folder to find the 9
Traffic Hurricane files. Click on the file called "Traffic Hurricane
PRO Installation Instructions". This will open a web browser window
and will connect you to the internet to display the most current instructions.
The next step is
to upload Traffic Hurricane to your Web hosting account or dedicated server.
How to do this is described in step 2.
Step
2.
To upload Traffic
Hurricane PRO to your web site you'll need an FTP program such as WS FTP Pro, which
you can obtain on a thirty-day trial basis at
http://IPswitch.com
For an easy tutorial on using FTP software,
After trying many FTP
software programs we recommend WS FTP Pro as our first choice in FTP software.
Instructions:
1) Create a Directory on
your Web site to install Traffic Hurricane
You will first want to
FTP into your web site and create a directory folder to upload the Traffic
Hurricane files into.
You can name this
directory anything that you wish.
You may also upload the Traffic
Hurricane PRO files into your root directory where the index page of your web
site normally resides. Please note, this is NOT the recommended
installation.
Important:
If you do upload the Traffic Hurricane PRO files into your root directory you'll
want to be sure to rename the index page of the Hurricane
page’s you are about to create, otherwise your web sites index page will be
overwritten.
2) Upload the Traffic
Hurricane files to your Web site.
Now that you have created
your directory, using the FTP program, set your location to this new directory.
You will then need to upload all of the files listed below into the directory you created on your web site.
The
files to upload are:
-
hurricane.php
-
payperclick.php
-
hurricanerss.php
-
pie.php
-
picker.js
-
picker.html
-
blank.gif
All of the above files must
be uploaded for Traffic Hurricane to work properly.
3) Change the Access
Permissions on the Uploaded Files.
The next step is
critical to ensure that the environment is properly created to enable Traffic
Hurricane to run without problem. The process of changing access
permissions is called to "Chmod". This is literally computer talk for
CHange MODe, hence Chmod for short.
If you are uncertain
about this step, replay the installation video found at
http://TrafficHurricane.com/videos.
To change permissions on
the needed files, using your mouse, right click on the file located on your web
site, with most FTP programs there will be either a Properties command or
Permissions/Chmod command that is displayed on the Right Click drop down menu.
Change
the permissions for each of the following files as specified:
-
hurricane.php Chmod this file to 755
-
payperclick.php
Chmod this file to 755
-
hurricanerss.php
Chmod this file to
755
-
pie.php
Chmod this file to 777
The access permissions of the above files
must be changed exactly as specified for Traffic Hurricane to work properly.
4)
Change the Access Permissions on the
directory containing Traffic Hurricane.
Once
all of Traffic Hurricane files specified in 2) above have been placed in the
directory you created Chmod the directory folder to 777.
Do not select the option to also Chmod all the files in the folder to 777.
To do this:
Using your FTP program,
go up 1 folder or directory. Right click on the folder that you have
created in 1) above. Then select the Properties or Permissions/Chmod
menu option. Set the permission on this file to 777. Do not select
the option to also Chmod all the files in the folder to 777.
Step
3.
Testing your installation
and running Traffic Hurricane for the first time.
In order to run traffic
Hurricane for the first time please open up your internet browser window and
point it to:
http://www.YourDomain.com/yourdirectoryname/hurricane.php
(note:
